About Migrant Helpline

Migrant Helpline was established as a charity in 1963 by Helen Ellis and was originally known as the Kent Committee for the Welfare of Migrants. Originally formed to assist migrants and passengers through the port of Dover, by the early 1990s, the main client group was newly arrived asylum seekers.

Migrant Helpline, partly funded by the Home Office, is one of five agencies providing assistance and support for asylum seekers and refugees entering and living in the UK. Migrant Helpline runs Accommodation Services in Kent and Croydon for newly arrived asylum seekers.

Migrant Helpline also provides a network of One Stop Services throughout Kent and East Sussex. In addition we run a series of programmes designed to help asylum seekers and refugees integrate fully into the community. Such initiatives are designed to help these people obtain employment, become proficient in English, find suitable housing, secure education for their children, etc.

Please contact us if you have any questions or want further information on any of our services.
