Training and Employment Project
The Training and Employment Project is designed to help guide refugees and European migrants through the difficult process of planning a career. The aim of the project is to provide clients with the necessary knowledge, confidence and skills that will enable them to negotiate the UK job market.
A series of courses are available that provide help and guidance on the following topics:
- Curriculum Vitae writing
- Job searching
- Filling in job application forms
- Health and safety
- Equal opportunities in the work place
Included with the courses is a booklet entitled 'A step in the Right Direction' developed by Technology Enterprise Kent and Migrant Helpline. This provides information and guidance specifically targetted towards refugees recently granted status to remain in the UK and newly arrived European migrant workers.
The Training and Employment Project invites employers to learn more about the issues surrounding the recruitment of refugees, asylum seekers and European migrants and provides a source of of advice for employers. For those employers who have already recognised the benefits of recruiting migrant staff, the Training and Employment Project provides ongoing support and development to individuals once in the workplace, to ensure that they achieve their full potential as well as understand the opportunities for progression that are available to them.
The project is currently ensliting the services of a group of mentors who are able to provide both personal and professional advice, and give confidence to clients starting out in the UK job market.
The Training and Employment Project works closely with the Migrant Helpline European Migrant Consultancy and the One Stop Service to provide an holistic approach to client support. Please contact us for more information.
