European Migrant Consultancy

Since May 2004 ten additional countries have been granted accession to the European Union. The One Stop Service began to experience a rise in the number of visits and enquiries from this new group of European citizens, particularly those from Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, wanting to know more about their newly gained status in the UK.

Many of these individuals had previously been asylum seekers who had attended the OSS offices regularly for support and they returned to the OSS as EU migrants unaware that One Stop is not funded to provide a service for this client group. In response to this in November 2005 Migrant Helpline established the European Migrant Consultancy.

EMC provides advice and support to European Union citizens relating to employment, benefits, health, housing and education services. It also offers advice on the rights and responsibilities of migrants to the United Kingdom.

The European Migrant Consultants run drop-in advice clinics in Dover and Margate and can be contacted on 07813 795524 or 07967 632139.
