Migrant Helpline Services

Since 2000 Migrant Helpline has been grant funded by the Home Office to provide a Reception Assistant role for newly arrived asylum seekers. The organisation runs accomodation in South London for newly arrived asylum seekers applying through the new asylum model.

Migrant Helpline also runs a One Stop Service for asylum seekers with offices throughout Kent and East Sussex which provide advice and support to asylum seekers and refugees settled in the local area. In addition to One Stop, Migrant Helpline provides a specialist advice service for EU Migrants. The European Migrant Consultancy has been extremely well subscribed since its launch in 2004.

In March 2004 the government launched the Gateway Protection Programme, a resettlement initiative designed to bring recognised refugees in to the UK. Migrant Helpline is involved in the Reception and Orientation phase in London.

Asylum seekers and refugees are often misrepresented in the press and Migrant Helpline works hard to present the facts about the complex issues of asylum and immigration.
