Regional Refugee Agencies in the UK

The Kent Refugee Action Network is an umbrella organization of the individual support groups for asylum seekers and refugees in Kent.

Refugee Council is the largest organization in the UK working with asylum seekers and refugees. We not only give help and support but also work with asylum seekers and refugees to ensure their needs and concerns are addressed.

Refugee Council have recently relaunched their website with a wide range of new features including a multilingual micro-site. "Written in 20 languages, this section empowers refugees and asylum seekers to access all our client information leaflets, navigating in their own languages.

Refugee Action is an independent national charity that enables refugees to build new lives in the UK. We provide practical advice and assistance for newly arrived asylum seekers and long-term commitment to their settlement through community development work.

The Welsh Refugee Council was registered in May 1994 and its objectives are:

• To provide relief for refugees and their dependants who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.
• To preserve and protect the physical and mental health of refugees and their dependants.
• To advance the education and training of refugees and their dependants in need thereof so as to advance them in life and assist in their rehabilitation within a new community.
• To promote research into the conditions of life of refugees throughout the world and ways of providing charitable relief for them and to publish the results of all such research.

Scottish Refugee Council is an independent charity dedicated to providing advice, information and assistance to asylum seekers and refugees living in Scotland. We also provide specialist services in areas such as housing and welfare, education and employment, family reunion, womens issues, community development, the media and the arts.
