- Promoting awareness of asylum issues
The site provides accurate information on the plight of asylum seekers and refugees. The reason why people leave their own country and seek a new life in the UK is investigated; the stories of individuals who suffer persecution, discrimination and frequently torture offer an insight into the terrible misery and suffering that many have experienced at the hands of oppressive regimes and political and religious groups:
“…Saeid began to attend meetings of a Christian group in Tehran. He obtained
literature that was deemed illegal and began to host small discussion groups
which soon grew to upwards of forty people. Upon discovery of these illegal
materials, Saeid was imprisoned for four years. His scars reveal his treatment
at the hands of the authorities who forced him to deny any intention to change
his religion. Whilst imprisoned, Saeid’s father died and his family
disappeared, presuming him dead...”
